OMAHA, Neb. – The NAIA has announced the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes for spring sports and four College of Saint Mary student-athletes have earned the recognition.
Mirtha Gutierrez (JR/Shenandoah, Iowa) and Lexie Remmenga (JR/Elwood, Neb.) were recognized in tennis, while Alyssa Beal (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Nicki Larsen (JR/Waverly, Neb.) earned the honor in softball.
In order to receive the recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
In women's tennis, 147 student-athletes qualified with Doane University, Indiana Wesleyan and Southwestern (Kan.) leading the way with seven individuals selected.
In softball, 395 student-athletes were honored with Siena Heights and Reinhardt each posting nine individuals recognized.
