OMAHA, Neb. – The College of Saint Mary bowling team has inked its first member for the inaugural 2017-18 season. Riley Hansen of Walford, Iowa, has signed her letter of intent to bowl and continue her education at CSM.
"Riley brings a strong athletic background to our team competing in multiple sports in high school," CSM Coach Tony Manna Jr. said. "I feel confident Riley will utilize her high school bowling experience and team attitude to be a good leader during our inaugural season.
"Riley has a great personality and desire to improve. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach Riley."
The daughter of Chris Hansen and Lisa Hansen bowled and played soccer for four years at Prairie High School. In bowling her team was the state championship runners-up in 2017 and she was named to the all-metro second team in 2017.
Hansen's high game is a 278 and her high series is 659. She says bowling the 278 during a meet is her greatest sports moment to date and says Hope Solo is her favorite sports hero. Her hobbies outside of bowling include soccer, knitting and crafts.
She plans to study nursing at College of Saint Mary.
"I was impressed with the friendly staff and the classrooms," Hansen said. "I felt very comfortable and welcomed to the college during my visit. I felt at home and could see myself there in the future. I like the programs they offer along with the campus."
