OMAHA, Neb. – Asana King has signed her letter of intent to continue her education and basketball career with the College of Saint Mary. CSM Coach Jesse Flanagan is thrilled to add the Las Vegas, Nev., athlete to his squad for the 2017-18 season.
"We are very excited to have Asana join the CSM family," Flanagan said. "Off the court she is an outstanding student. On the court Asana is super long and athletic. She is an outstanding rebounder and I told her at our first conversation that I want her to dominate that area. I love her mentality because she believes that every ball that comes off the rim is hers. That is the type of attitude and drive that we are looking for.
"Parts of her game are raw, but I love her attitude and determination. Those two things will take her very far. Both on and off the court Asana will make a major impact at CSM."
The 5-11 post is the daughter of Michelle Jackson King and Adrian King. She attended Shadow Ridge High School where she was a three-sport athlete in basketball, volleyball and track & field before graduating in 2015. She was a second team all-conference player in basketball.
After high school King attended and played basketball at Barstow Community College in southern California.
King says Kobe Bryant is her favorite sports hero and lists shopping, learning and playing sports as her favorite hobbies. She plans to study psychology at College of Saint Mary.
"CSM is out of my comfort zone and I want to take a new path and also a new journey," she said. "New experiences are great."
