VERMILLION, S.D. – The Great Plains Athletic Conference Women's Golf Fall Qualifier is set for Monday and Tuesday and College of Saint Mary Golf Coach Keri Rodriguez said the Flames are ready to play.
"We are excited to compete in the first GPAC qualifier of the year," Rodriguez said. "The weather might be rainy and cold, but I'm hoping we can battle it out and shoot to our potential."
The tournament starts at 10 a.m. Monday with split tee times off No. 1 and No. 10. The first CSM golfer tees off at 10:40 a.m.
Participating for the Flames will be Aly Anderson (FR/Treynor, Iowa), Hannah Muroski (JR/Ashland, Mo.), Haleigh Salsbury (SR/Blair, Neb.), Mary Morris (SO/Sweetwater, Texas) and Rachel Peabody (SO/Omaha, Neb.).
The fall event will be 36 holes (18 each day) and will be played at The Bluff Golf Course in Vermillion, S.D. The final 36 holes will be played in the spring at Quail Run in Columbus, Neb.
Briar Cliff is the defending GPAC Women's Golf Champion. The Charger women posted a four round, 72 hole total of 1338 to claim the 2016-17 GPAC Women's Golf Championship. Morningside was second in the team race with a 1354, while Mount Marty placed third with a 72 hole total of 1381 last season.
Morningside is receiving votes in the most recent NAIA National Women's Golf Poll.
The 24th NAIA Women's National Golf Championship will be played May 22-25 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
