Flames dance team drops opener at Concordia

SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia University defeated College of Saint Mary 83.6 to 67.1 on Wednesday in the Flames' first dance competition of the 2026 season at Friedrich Arena.

"I was impressed with our performance overall for the first time out,'' first-year CSM coach Jennifer Wasik said. "I couldn't be prouder of the team. All around, the dancers felt good about the performance we put out on the floor tonight.''

Competing for the Flames were senior Hannah Elliott, juniors Evelyn Andrade and Elizabeth Kenny, sophomores Delainey Benedict, Grace Denning, Haley Engleman and Ellie Frederick, and freshmen Kelsey Beles and Millie Johnson.

Wasik said it was a good starting point to the season.

"Definitely some nerves and small details that can be worked out, but I think our scores are a good baseline to improve upon. We will take the judges' comments and improve for our next competition.''

CSM's next competition will be Jan. 31 at the Doane Invitational in Crete, Neb.
