Flames continue to support one another, progress
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Jennifer Wasik likes the progress she's seeing with her College of Saint Mary competitive dance team.
The Flames wrapped up the two-day Northwestern Invite on Saturday at the Bultman Center, and ended eighth in the nine-team field with a score of 73.33. CSM's two-day average was 73.27, ninth among the 10 total teams in action.
"We had another really strong performance today, and honestly, it felt even better than yesterday,'' Wasik said. "We made a few adjustments based on the judges' feedback, and I thought the team executed at a higher level, even if the scores didn't fully show that. We only went up .1 points, but in a subjective sport, how it feels when we take the floor matters just as much, if not more.''
Viterbo University won Saturday's competition with a score of 90.29, followed by Morningside University (89.25), Concordia University (87.87), Doane University (87.79), Dordt University (78.79), Northwestern College (76.29), Hastings College (75.41), CSM and York University (70.12).
Wasik said the team showed excellent camaraderie, and it showed in its performance.
"I couldn't be more proud of this team and how they handled such a busy weekend, supporting each other, staying positive and continuing to build each other up,'' she said.
