CSM bowlers in the hunt for bracket play

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – The College of Saint Mary bowling team had a strong day Saturday at the Big Ole Open 2025. The Flames are currently sitting in fifth place and are just one spot out of qualifying for bracket play.

"The ladies bowled consistently today," CSM Coach Corrinne Johnson said. "It was a tough pattern which made it hard for high scores. But they picked up some amazing splits today on the lanes and worked hard communicating with each other, helping read the lanes and making moves and ball changes.

"We are sitting in fifth place going into Day 2 and the top four teams go to bracket play after completing the 12 Baker games."

The Flames total pin count on Saturday was 3,738. Coe College leads the way with 4,460, while Waldorf University sits in second with 4,350 and Wartburg College is in third with 4,186. Also ahead of the Flames is Iowa Central Community College with 3,961.

CSM is ahead of Iowa State University (3,701), Luther College (3,616), Iowa Western Community College (3,504) and Hawkeye Community College (3,488).

The Flames had team game scores of 755, 737, 756, 778 and 712.

Hannah O'Neal led College of Saint Mary with 827 and high scores of 187 and 186. Her five-game score earned her 15th place individually. Teammates Abigail Rosloniec placed 23rd and  Madison Barnes took 25th.

"Hannah started out strong with a 187," Johnson said. "The next two pairs she struggled finding a line and – after a couple ball changes – she came back and answered with a 186 for the fourth game ending with a 165 average.

"Abby with 769 and Madison with 758 were close behind."

The two-day tournament continues Sunday.

"Our goal for Sunday is to bowl some strong Bakers, finish strong and move up into bracket play," Johnson said.
