Bio

Ed Meitzen comes to College of Saint Mary with five years of college coaching experience. He started with the Flames on July 17, 2024.

Meitzen's coaching highlights include winning the NJCAA national title in 2022-23 as the Goalkeeper coach for Iowa Western Community College Women's soccer team and starting the men's and women's soccer programs at Southeast Community College in the fall of 2020 as Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach. Other coaching stops included Nebraska Christian College and Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Meitzen is currently the Director of the Nebraska Olympic Development and Player Development Coordinator for Nebraska State Soccer. He is currently a staff Coach with Midwest ODP and USYS National Goalkeeper coach for U13 and U14. And former Director of Goalkeeping for Evolution Soccer Club.

Coaching Education is a passion of Meitzen - he currently holds his United States Soccer Federation C License, United Soccer National License and Goalkeeper Level 2. He is studying to be certified to teach USSF coaching licenses courses.

Meitzen attended Doane University and is excited to be back in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

"I was very excited when Coach Jamison Parkhill reached out about the opportunity at College of Saint Mary," Meitzen said. "The school is uniquely positioned in the conference due to its high-quality academics, location and facilities. Obviously, the chance to work with Coach JP again was something I could not pass up.

"I am humbled by the opportunity and trust of Coach and the athletic staff at CSM. I look forward to working with the student-athletes, faculty and families to ensure an incredible college experience for these players." 

Meitzen lives in Lincoln with his wife Leticia and children Analise and Aiden.
