Craft, Elbert win at Concordia
SEWARD, Neb. – Kiley Craft and Olivia Elbert notched individual event victories to highlight College of Saint Mary's efforts at the Concordia Invite indoor track & field meet Saturday at Walz Fieldhouse.
Elbert led a 1-2-3 finish with Mira Fosmer and Josie Karnik as the Flames dominated the 800 meters. Elbert won in 2:19.04, with Fosmer clocking 2:22.13 and Karnik 2:24.74.
Craft captured the 3,000 in 11:06.36, while the Flames also picked up a 2-3-4 finish in the mile with Kara Muller (5:08.33), Carly Henderson (5:15.19) and Corinne Mead (5:30.97).
"The distance crew shined again," CSM Coach Steve Gordon Jr. said. "Kara lowered her personal best with a massive three-second PR.''
Gordon said there were plenty of noteworthy efforts, up and down the lineup.
"Along with the usual strong performers, some new faces really stepped up and bettered their standing for GPAC Championships next week,'' he said. "Indoor regular season has come to an end, and some very good surprises set us up very well for the postseason.
"Kayla Briggs had a banner day. She set a new career best (finishing sixth) to join Mikaiya Rodgers (who was fifth) in the long jump final. Kayla, Allison Isaacson and Avah VanArsdale all set big new personal bests in the triple jump. Allison grabbed a spot in one of the toughest finals this season, (finishing eighth).''
Imani Skanes placed third in the triple jump and also grabbed fourth in the 60.
Isaacson also snagged fourth in the pole vault, while Yenifer Juan Jesus placed sixth in the mile.
