Skanes’ GPAC win named Women’s Field Performance of the Meet

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Imani Skanes of College of Saint Mary added another award on Thursday to an already remarkable freshman season of track & field.

Skanes' winning performance in the long jump at the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend has been named the Women's Field Performance of the Meet after a vote by the league's coaches.

Skanes won the long jump with a leap of 5.78 meters (18 feet, 11¾ inches). She's the reigning NAIA indoor national champion and also won the GPAC indoor meet in the event.

Here are all of the Outstanding Performances of the Meet winners:

Women's Track Performance – Adrianna Rodencal, Concordia – 400 Hurdles – 58.36 – GPAC Record
Women's Field Performance – 
Imani Skanes, College of Saint Mary – Long Jump – 18-11.75
Men's Track Performance –  Logan Ferrari, Mount Marty – 10K – 30:35.14 – GPAC Record
Men's Field Performance – 
Braden Kavelage, Northwestern – Long Jump – 25-02.75

Rodencal from Concordia and Kavelage from Northwestern also were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Outstanding Athletes of the Year. Rodencal scored 24.5 points in the meet for the Bulldogs, while Kavelage scored 30.5 points for the Red Raiders. 

Ed Fye from Doane, representing the Tigers coaching staff and program, has been named the Jim McMahon/Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Staff of the Year after leading Doane to the women's team title (250.5 points). Ed Fye from Doane, representing the Tigers coaching staff and program, was named the Fred Beile/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Staff of the Year after leading Doane to the men's team title (248 points). 

The 2026 GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held in Fremont, Neb, and were hosted by Midland University at Heedum Field.

The top eight in each event and top three relays are considered GPAC All-Conference for Outdoor Track and Field.

The NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships are May 20-22 at Karl Straus Track in Asheville, N.C.
