Flames advance 6 to nationals in 3 events
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Six College of Saint Mary athletes have qualified for the 45th-annual NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set for May 20 to 22 at the Karl Straus Track in Asheville, N.C.
The Flames have qualified ninth in the 4 x 800-meter relay, after setting a program-record 9:12.36 in the event last Friday at the Concordia Twilight meet with Carly Henderson, Corinne Mead, Kara Muller and Olivia Elbert.
Freshman Imani Skanes has qualified in two events. She's the third-leading qualifier in the long jump, with a season-best and program-record jump of 6.12 meters (20 feet, 1 inch) at the Central Nebraska Challenge.
Skanes also has qualified 17th in the triple jump, after a season-best of 11.84 meters (38-10¼) at the Concordia Invite.
The Flames will have two competitors in the triple jump, as Allison Isaacson joins Skanes. Isaacson qualified 16th after soaring a program-record 11.85 meters (38-10½) at last Friday's Concordia Twilight.
The 4 x 800 relay prelim is set for 5:15 p.m. Central on May 20, while the triple jump final will be at 3:30 p.m. Central on May 21.
