Harger signs with cross country, track & field programs

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary is thrilled to announce the signing of Mackenzie Harger, who will join the school's cross country and track & field teams in the 2026-27 academic year.

Harger is a senior at Earlham High School in Earlham, Iowa, and the daughter of Willliam and Carla Harger.

CSM Cross Country Coach Derek Fey is pleased to have such an accomplished student-athlete join his program.

"Mackenzie will be a great addition to our squad,'' he said. "She has an impressive resume, including being a four-time state cross country qualifier.''

In her career at Earlham, Harger has been a part of two Class 1-A state team cross country championships, which is her greatest sports moment to date. Her highest individual finish at state has been fifth place. She also holds the school record for the fastest time over a 5,000-meter course.

Harger enjoys coloring, spending time with friends and her dogs, watching movies, listening to music, crafts and writing.

She said she chose CSM because "the people seem really nice, I love the campus and I love how the nursing program is set up.''

Fey said Harger will fit right in to an outstanding recruiting class.

"She is part of an extremely competitive incoming freshman group we are amassing,'' he said. "I'm looking forward to seeing Mackenzie's contributions with a group that will keep the momentum of the program moving forward.''
