Alvarado Roman signs to run at CSM
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary is excited to announce that Cinthia Alvarado Roman has signed to continue her cross country and track & field career with the school in the 2026-27 academic year.
Alvarado Roman is the daughter of Jaime Alvarado and Margarita Roman Barrera. She is a senior at Omaha South High School.
CSM Coach Derek Fey, who leads the cross country program and is a track assistant, said Alvarado Roman is a great addition to the school.
"We're super excited that Cinthia is joining our team,'' he said. "Having run with her coach, John Tripp, in college, I know he creates extremely high-quality student-athletes. Cinthia is definitely one of those.''
Alvarado Roman said Tripp is her sports hero.
"He has always been there for me and for everyone on the team, and he believed in my potential to continue growing in this sport, even before I fully saw it myself,'' she said.
At South, Alvarado Roman has participated in cross country and track for three years. She said her greatest sports moment to date was breaking six minutes in the mile after only running for two years.
"It really showed me how consistency and discipline really do pay off,'' she said.
In her spare time, Alvarado Roman enjoys volunteering, reading and baking. She believes CSM will be a great fit for her in every area.
"It will allow me to succeed, both academically and athletically,'' she said. "CSM's nursing program is highly recognized throughout the Midwest for its outstanding professors and high-achieving students.
"I have only heard great things about the cross country program and Coach Fey. Knowing this, I am confident that Saint Mary is a place where I can grow and be successful.''
Fey looks forward to watching Alvarado Roman grow as well.
"She has been improving over her career at South, and I see a ton of potential for Cinthia here at CSM,'' he said.
